The path to global change begins in a class
Sadly, not every student receives equal education. Women in Tourism Indonesia is committed to helping the most vulnerable students providing them with equal education and support.
We have fellowship training program -- Women in Tourism Indonesia Camp, prioritizing students from marginalized areas to receive gender-infused curriculum in tourism studies. The trainings are taught by academics and leaders accross the globe to create meaningful impact for students to prepare them in the workforce.
Ultra-micro business development
There is not enough support ecosystem in Indonesia that addresses gender inequalities in the tourism entrepreneurship sector, especially ones that is accessible for new starters and small scale businesses. There are indeed several business incubators and start-up support initiatives exist in the country, however many of them are not accessible for communities with minimum access to information, they are often tech-oriented and not suitable to address the need/concern of small businesses.
In 2024, we received small funding from US Embassy and YSEALI to increase women capacity in ultra-micro and small businesses. Through Women in Tourism Entrepreneurship, we accelerate women-owned businesses in tourism industry by 1:1 coaching sessions from our fields’ experts. Women in tourism Indonesia plans to continue this program to create bigger impact.
